How to Reach

By Air

Kullu-Manali Airport (Bhuntar): The nearest airport to Manali and Kullu, located around 10 km from Kullu, with flights from Delhi and other major cities.
Shimla Airport (Jubbarhatti): Located 23 km from Shimla, it is connected by flights from Delhi and Chandigarh.
Chandigarh Airport: Around 120 km from Shimla, this airport has more frequent connections to major cities across India.

Note: The airports in Himachal Pradesh are small and have limited flights. For international travelers, the nearest international airport is in Delhi or Chandigarh, from where you can take a domestic flight or road transport to Himachal Pradesh.

By Train

Himachal Pradesh has a few railway stations, though the rail network is not as extensive as in other regions of India. The nearest major railheads to popular destinations are:

Shimla Railway Station: Known for the famous Kalka-Shimla narrow-gauge toy train. The train journey is scenic and a popular way to reach Shimla.
Kangra Railway Station: A small station that connects to Dharamshala and the Kangra Valley.
Pathankot Junction: The major railway junction closest to Dharamshala and Kullu. From Pathankot, you can take a bus or taxi to your destination.
Manali does not have a railway station, so you’ll need to travel by road from Kullu or nearby areas.

By Road

Himachal Pradesh is well-connected by road to major cities like Delhi, Chandigarh, and other parts of northern India. The state has a well-maintained network of national highways, and you can reach most destinations by private car, bus, or taxi. The scenic mountain drives make the road journey quite special.

From Delhi: Himachal is approximately 350-500 km away from Delhi, depending on the destination. The drive takes around 7-10 hours.
From Chandigarh: About 100-120 km to Shimla, around 300 km to Manali, and 200-250 km to Dharamshala. A 4-6 hour drive, depending on the destination.
From Amritsar or Pathankot: Manali and Dharamshala are also well-connected by road from these cities.

Buses: Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) and private bus operators run regular services from major cities like Delhi, Chandigarh, and Pathankot to places like Shimla, Manali, Dharamshala, and Kullu. You can also opt for luxury buses for a comfortable journey.

For Snowfall and Winter Sports: December to February.
For Adventure Activities: March to June and September to November.
For Lush Greenery and Offbeat Travel: July to September.
For Honeymoons and Romantic Trips: December to February or March to April.
